Owning the map pack before the summer AC rush
An HVAC company in Costa Mesa. Genuinely great reviews, a truck full of repeat customers, and a Google Business Profile that hadn't been touched since it was claimed — while every competitor with a working map-pack listing ate the calls they should have been getting.
The situation
Word of mouth doesn't scale past the block
This is a second-generation family business with the kind of reputation that takes decades to build — technicians who show up on time, fair pricing, reviews that read like thank-you notes. But the business had never invested in how it showed up online. The Google Business Profile listed the wrong service area, had three unanswered reviews from over a year prior, and the website was a single page with a phone number and a stock photo of a thermostat. With summer approaching, the busiest and most profitable stretch of the year, they were about to lose that rush to competitors who simply looked more legitimate in a two-second glance at the map pack.
What we did
Fixed the fundamentals, then built for speed
We rebuilt the Google Business Profile from the ground up: correct categories, an accurate service area instead of a single pinned address, real photos of the team and trucks, and a system for the owner to request and respond to reviews consistently instead of in occasional bursts.
Citation cleanup came next — years of directory listings with three slightly different phone numbers and two old addresses were dragging down the trust signals Google uses to rank local businesses. We standardized the name, address, and phone number everywhere it appeared.
On the site itself, we shipped fast, individual service-area pages for each city in their real coverage zone, each built around the specific searches homeowners run when their AC dies in July: same-day repair, unit replacement cost, emergency service. The whole site loads in under a second, which matters more than usual for a customer standing in a hot house trying to get help immediately, not admire a homepage animation.
How it played out
Ready well before the heat arrived
Local SEO moves faster than national SEO, but it's still not instant — the map pack ranking climbed steadily over 8 months, not overnight. By the time summer actually hit, the business held the number-one map-pack spot for “ac repair costa mesa” and was pulling in 3.1x more qualified leads than the prior year, at a cost per lead -64%lower than what they'd been paying for ads that were barely breaking even.

Winning bookings back from the OTAs, one search at a time
Gorgeous property, but online travel agencies owned every branded search and took commission on rooms guests would have booked direct. We rebuilt the site around direct booking, captured branded SERPs, and built neighborhood guides that earn stays.
